1989 - 1993 IONA
It was during a photo session in 1989, I happened to run in to a very gifted musician and visionary by the name of Dave Fitzgerald.  He enthused to me about a new project he'd just put together and with in the space of an hour had sold the whole idea to me so well, I didn't need to hear a single note.  I knew exactly how they sounded, what they looked like and what they wanted to achieve.

Shortly after that meeting I was invited to join the band as a full time member and recorded two studio LP's with them. "The Book of Kells" and "Beyond These Shores". More recently I joined them for the live recording of "Woven Chord."

I think I stayed with Iona for the longest period of any band I've been in, not least of all because they came to be such dear friends.  That apart, I feel those three records are probably the best I ever worked on.

Coincidentaly the first three Iona CDs have now been remastered and are available from their web site as a box set titled,"ANTHOLOGY Vol.1" This set also includes an additional fourth CD of music we recorded for the BBC's wild life television series. It's really great.

Robert Fripp guested on a number of tracks on the "Beyond These Shores" album.  He expressed an interest in the band from the beginning. Dam good chap that Robert Fripp.

He also recorded on a couple of tracks for Ellis Beggs & Howard, which appear on "THE LOST YEARS VOL 1."
